I am [bic] attempting the Sonnet Marathon April 24

This week, The Sonnet Man is traveling to Florida for the Word of South and Southern Shakespeare Festivals. He will be in Florida beginning Sunday, April 10 for the Word of South Festival Performance.

Next week, he’ll be doing school assemblies and drop-ins with theater groups at Godby High School, FAMU Essential Theatre, Leon High School, the 50Large Youth Group, and the FAMU Developmental Research School from Tuesday, April 12 to Friday, April 15.  On April 15 and 16, his trip will culminate with 2 performances at the Southern Shakespeare Festival, all in Tallahassee.

The next week, April 18 through 24, he will travel straight from Florida to England, where he will be performing and doing school assemblies and workshops.  April 18 he will be at King Edward VI School, April 19 at Stratford School, April 20 at Birmingham City University School of English, and April 21 at the Warwick School.

He’s also set to record and do interviews with BBC and ITV Central. On April 24, his trip will culminate with a truly amazing feat.  The Sonnet Man will be attempting The Sonnet Marathon, rapping ALL 154 of Shakespeare’s Sonnets.

The Sonnet Man has been practicing almost non-stop for the last several months, spending up to 12 hours a day rehearsing.  He’ll have notes and literary devices to help him along the way, but even with some aids, it’s truly amazing what he will be attempting.

Following his trip in England, he will head straight to Morocco for short writing workshops with different centers of the American Language Center (ALC). More on that to come.
